- Teams must be registered by a student, faculty or staff member of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and that person may only register a team once.
- Films must be under 5 minutes (including credits), and include a prop, line of dialogue and shot presented at the beginning of the competition.
- No stock footage or footage shot outside the 49-hours may be used.
- Equipment for teams is limited, and all teams are encouraged to use their personal equipment if they have it. Teams registering first and requesting equipment will be given priority.
- Equipment checkout will occur one hour before the competition begins. Equipment checkin will occur right after the competition ends.
- Submissions will be screened prior to the festival, and some may not be included based on not meeting requirements or the number of submissions.
- By submitting a film, the filmmakers agree to allow Illini Film and Video to use the film for non-commercial use.
- Teams should conform to the University of Illinois conduct policies, and any local, state or federal laws while making the movie.
- Only one film per team may be submitted.
- Films may be submitted on a video DVD, miniDV tape, portable storage device (including external hard drive, flash drive, etc) in a self-contained, uncompressed format or a data DVD with a self-contined, uncompressed file.
- Obtaining any releases including, but not limited to, copyright, location, crew and/or actor releases are the responsibility of the filmmaker.
